Music Lessons

Autism South East is pleased to be working with SAM DUNSTALL to provide autism friendly music lessons!

Sam will come to your home as we know that many on the spectrum feel more comfortable in a familiar environment.

● Guitar grades 1-8
● Bass guitar grades 1-8
● Ukulele
● Piano – beginners

Hi, my name is Sam.  I’m a musician and have been teaching children and young people with autism for over ten years.
My music specialism has always been guitar but I also play and teach bass guitar, Ukulele and piano.  I enjoy building strong learning relationships with my students and when ready, have even invited some of them on stage with me.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching students with ASD, responding to them as an individual and really working to build a relationship of trust.  I worked as a tutor at an autism specific school and enjoyed considerable success engaging many of the pupils in music for the first time. I have a Masters degree in Experimental Music and in addition to teaching have played in many bands.

Quote from the parent of one of my students:
“With a teenage son with ASD, I wanted to find a hobby that he would enjoy and that wouldn’t focus on any academic areas. I then decided on music, in particular the guitar. Then I had to find a teacher that would engage him and work at a pace suitable for Conor (my son). Sam is perfect. He engaged with Conor immediately and focussed on music that my son enjoyed as well as encouraging him. Conor loves his lessons and Sam has an ability to be able to get him to focus for a whole hour lesson.”

  1. Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your organization’s wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind
me asking what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind if I steal it?

I just launched my small businesses site –also built in wordpress
like yours– but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd” on Google (would appreciate any
feedback) – it’s still in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during
    the coronavirus scare!
